Removing Users

Removing a user takes their membership out of the organisation. It doesn't delete their NeonNow account — they keep their account and any memberships in other organisations.

Remove a Member

  1. Open the Users area.
  2. Open the actions menu for the member and choose Remove.
  3. The confirmation modal names the member being removed. Confirm to remove them.

Once removed, the person loses access to the organisation. If they try to open a URL for it afterwards, they'll see a not found page. You can invite them back at any time.

Removal Confirmation Variations

The confirmation modal adapts to who is being removed:

SituationWhat the modal does
Removing another memberConfirms which member you're removing.
Removing yourselfConfirms you're about to leave the organisation. (You can also do this from your organisation memberships.)
Removing the last Org AdminBlocked — the last Org Admin can't be removed.

You Can't Remove the Last Org Admin

To stop an organisation from being left without an administrator, the last Org Admin can't be removed (and can't be the one to leave). If you need to remove the current Org Admin, first promote another member to Org Admin, then remove the original. See Last Org Admin protections.

Removing Access vs. Deleting an Account

  • Removing a user (here) ends one membership. Their account and other memberships are untouched.
  • Deleting an account is something only the account owner can do, from their own Preferences.
